Cover of the book Alexander Rock Learns to Roll

Alexander Rock lived at the very top of a mountain, but he was so sharp and pointy that plants, bugs, and even eagles stayed far away from him. He didn’t have any friends because it hurt to land or grow near him.

One night lightning struck Alexander and he rolled down the mountain.

During a hurricane the wind and rain pushed Alexander all around until he landed somewhere he had never been before.

After the storms passed, Alexander noticed something new. He was not the same.

Alexander realized that even though the storms were scary, they helped him become better. Now he could enjoy the sunshine, the rain, the plants, and the animals in a whole new way.

Read about Alexander's adventure and how it changed his life. Enjoy this story for elementary age students.

The Day the Sun Refused to Shine

Step into an enchanting animal kingdom that guides young readers on a journey of social and emotional learning through a heartwarming fable, about the sun, a kind-hearted sheep and all her friends.
“The Day the Sun Refused to Shine" tells the story of a world where animals lived in harmony, basking in the warm embrace of the sun. Yet, the sun, feeling unappreciated and lonely, decided to hide behind clouds, plunging the earth into darkness and despair. As days turned to weeks, the animals grew increasingly concerned, and their lives became miserable. Finally, a small lamb emerges as a hero to the animal kingdom by demonstrating wisdom and kindness.
This fable teaches a profound lesson: that sometimes, the quietest voices and the simplest acts of kindness can have the most significant impact. It reminds us to appreciate the everyday blessings in our lives and the power of humility, gratitude, and empathy in resolving conflicts and bringing about positive change. “The Day the Sun Refused to Shine" serves as a beautiful reminder that even the smallest of gestures can illuminate the world.
